Since Public Talks are being reduced from 45 minutes to 30 minutes starting January '08. I wonder if that is intended to leave the brothers even less opportunity to inject any personal ideas.
It just seems weird that the talks are reduced by 15 minutes to "provide more time for Field Service"? (One explanation given in the notice.) For me, it's gonna be more time for JWD.

jefferywhat - Logistics wouldn't be a problem. They can print brochures by the truckload every nanosecond. KOTW brochures are already in all the congregations by now, ready for the campaign. I can't imagine it would be availability, and if it was someone 'evil' in a picture, they would simply change the picture before the next run of the presses. (Or replace their head with an approved one [insert evil Dr. Frankenstein laugh here])

Maybe they didn't have time to do more than mere fragments since Armageddon was so very near.):

I have a few more stories about this publication that are less than flattering, but I have to run errands and don't have time to chat right now. Perhaps this one example will give y'all some matter for discussing how the WTBTS might reword such a section for future reprinting.

as there is a gaging order we may never know.. i believe in these cases they admit to nothing the legal term is "without prejudice" and make the payment as such.. however in the elders book at a j.c if the if they have proof the person has done something wrong and will not admit to it they are to be d.fed.
Of course they would not admit any fault.
WTBTS has extensive experience working the legal system. As you will find documented here and elsewhere, they have been able to get many cases dismissed on various technicalities. Although these are legal, they are not ethical IMHO. Obviously, there is still plenty of cash available to pay the extra to keep some of the worst out of court and say "We didn't do anything wrong." So why are they paying millions and silencing the victims?

I was in Bethel long enough to know that something like this that appears to be a "non-issue" is really an issue. Congregations around where I am now already have hundreds in stock, so now what's to be done if not pushed them on householders?

Another odd thing on this subject, an illuminating thing for me, actually. I was still in Bethel when the huge power outage darkened the Eastern quarter of the USA. When I watched the news and saw the people of NYC peacefully going home, and many stories of 'Good Samaritans' helping others during this crisis. I was, like, "SH-T, where's the looting, shooting, mayhem, violence, and chaos? Why are we led to believe that all of these are really evil and should be killed by God?"
Katrina was a worse scene, bad things did happen, there have been corruption and scandals. But when a District Overseer said, "This is proof that all mankind is still as wicked as during the Nazis and the holocaust." Inside I said, "This man is totally nuts!"
i'm still 'in' and have access to certain resources, including 'follow up' slips.
i suggest that anyone 'in' or 'out' help to turn these into 'fool up' slips.

On false prophecies of the end... We're a congregation dating back to the 40s. My parents grew up expecting the end in the 50s. Started their family in the 60s. Have been very faithful Jdubs, but knew never to trust any date predictions.

I've been out of Bethel about 2 1/2 years.
this time last year i met the man of my dreams...he was incredibly smart and charming...he was in tune with me...he made me feel like i was the best thing that ever happened to him.
at first he was a little shy...he didn't think anyone of my caliber would even give him a chance...conveniantly though i had my run of bad guys...and wanted someone different.
he was a devout christian...and i had been yearning for years for some direction.
That's a sad story. Everyone dreams of true love and living happily ever after.
Agreeing with everyone else. As an elder, my job would have been to tell you to return to your husband. Everyone would smear on the words of how it will all be better this time. Honestly, in previous cases I've known, it will only get worse if you return trying to make it better. He, and his family, and the congregation that he has been in, will always blame YOU as the slutty, Satanic temptress that is ruining their precious non-worldly world. Divorce, fade, rebuild your relationship with your family and everyone you knew before all of this. Tell them what happened to you.
Clearly you love God and still have love for your husband. But he's using you and abusing you. SHAME ON HIM!
